Analytics
Kanji Codex uses PostHog (hosted in the United States) to learn how the site is used, so it can be improved. It records:
- pages you visit and links or buttons you click;
- words you search for in the dictionary, your search options and how many results came back;
- which search, analyzer or similar-kanji result you open;
- whether you use the list or grid layout;
- how many kanji the text analyzer found — never the text you paste;
- quiz starts, completions and scores;
- errors that occur in the page.
PostHog runs without cookies or browser storage: visits are told apart by a privacy-preserving hash computed on PostHog's servers. This data isn't linked to your account, and sessions are not recorded.
The site is hosted on Vercel, whose Web Analytics and Speed Insights record page views and page load performance.
Accounts
Signing in is optional. If you create an account, sign-in is handled by Supabase, which stores your email address, display name and the kanji lists you save.
Stored in your browser
The site keeps your list or grid layout choice in your browser's local storage, and, if you sign in, your sign-in session.
